I’m an editor specialising in commercial fiction with experience of working in-house at major traditional and digital publishing companies.
About Me
As a freelance editor, I work both for major publishing houses and directly with authors. I am happy to work across most genres in commercial fiction and narrative non-fiction, but specialise in crime and thriller and women’s fiction.
Previously, I’ve worked on the editorial teams at Orion, Hodder & Stoughton, Bookouture, and Amazon Publishing UK, so have strong experience across traditional and digital publishing establishments.
Writing copy is also a passion of mine, and I’d love to work with you to develop an attention-grabbing blurb that will draw in readers.
Services
Developmental Editing
A structural edit of a manuscript, looking at the major building blocks of a novel such as plot, pacing, atmosphere, character development and so on, with detailed commentary on the manuscript itself and a comprehensive editorial letter. This can also include a subsequent detailed line edit after structural revisions have been made, if required.
Copywriting
I write copy for book covers or to feature online, as well as taglines for marketing and social media purposes, to make your book stand out in the right way to appeal to readers. I have also written extensively to various briefs beyond publishing, and am happy to produce articles and reviews.
Submission Package Review
A review of your query letter and synopsis if you have a submission ready to send to agents or publishers. I will suggest edits to your documents, ensuring that you have included all necessary material and that your tone and content is appropriate for your intended audience. I can also help polish any sample writing you are including in the package.
